Since 1947, Waverly Sales Company has served the Iowa and Minnesota regions, thanks to our founder, Arnold Hexom. Back in the day, we helped keep the draft horse industry alive when tractors were trying to steal the show.
Leadership passed from Arnold to Bill Dean and then to Bill’s son, Ron. Our auctions started modestly among hay bales and evolved into a tent set up in the 1960s. Fast forward to today, and we host the largest Horse Sale in the nation every spring and fall, attracting enthusiasts from around the globe.
In 2024, Leon Martin, a seasoned auctioneer with a conservative Mennonite upbringing, took the reins of Waverly Sales Company. Leon brings a wealth of knowledge and a touch of old-school charm to his new role and his dedication to the industry, earning him trust and credibility.
